Meet Dr. Suraj Panjwani

Originally from Mumbai, India, Dr. Suraj Panjwani began his medical career at Grant Government Medical College and Sir JJ Group of Hospitals—one of India’s oldest and most respected medical institutions. It was here that he developed a passion for the art and science of surgery, inspired by caring for patients from all walks of life in one of the busiest hospital systems in the country.

Driven by a commitment to advanced training, Dr. Panjwani moved to the United States to pursue his surgical career. He completed his General Surgery residency at St. Mary’s Hospital, an affiliate of Yale University, where he also gained proficiency to perform robotic procedures. To further refine his expertise, he completed a highly specialized one-year fellowship in Advanced Gastrointestinal Minimally Invasive and Bariatric Surgery at Advanced Laparoscopic Surgery Associates in Fresno, California, training under leaders in the field.

His fellowship provided intense, hands-on experience in the full spectrum of bariatric procedures—including gastric sleeve, gastric bypass, and revisional surgery-as well as advanced foregut and complex laparoscopic operations. During this time, he also received comprehensive training in the medical management of obesity, allowing him to provide holistic, multidisciplinary care for patients pursuing weight-loss and metabolic health.
